Portrait of a Young Man

William Page was at the height of his career when he painted this portrait. By 1834 he was fully established in the New York art world as a member of the American Academy, achieving the distinction of board member only one year later. These achievements left him with no shortage of wealthy patrons. Page showed this genteel sitter in his finest clothing, with rosy cheeks and lips framed by fashionably long whiskers
